Hello all,

ive got along time this coin in my collection. But I can't identify it. It looks like some sort of token or british 17th century coin.

But the obverse and reverse look the same but in retrogade?

Does anyone knows this one maybe?

I have a feeling I have seen this AF monogram before somewhere, and I don't recognise it as being English.

I hope someone can help you because I am interested to know... maybe it is buried deep in the back of my mind but I can't bring it forwards at the moment.

Well a little searching found that I am wrong - it has English derivation.

Essex Colchester 17th Century Token Andr Formantel Junior

There are a couple on ebay, the reverse normally having the date central (which yours doesn't have) but maybe this clue will get you moving in the right direction with regards to ID.

Thank you kindly! I am busy with searching the right one. Indeed the others I find have an date on the reverse in the middle..

I know there is a Swedish "AF", but this cannot be one considering it has it on both sides.

I'd guess it's some sort of trading token with the initials of the merchant being "AF"
