Hi there. Newbie around here but have been collecting coins every year for 25 years. I got them for my birthday and Christmas. In all honesty I have around 30-35 coins all Royal Mint silver proof in boxes. Either £1 £2 or £5 coins. Also have 2 Sovereigns. I'm looking too sell them but I have no idea who too or where or how much they are worth. As a set. Could anyone please give me any advise that would be good thank you

Tom

The Sovs are worth a minimum melt value of gold so £180 each guaranteed. Depending on year and copnditon they could be worth a lot more. If you were to sell the silver proofs on ebay, you would get £12-£25 each. If you sold it as a lot you would get a lot less than selling individually.

By far one of the best tools to find current 'worth' is the completed listings on ebay

In my opinion, as long as you cover yourself with postage costs and get covered in case of loss (recorded/special delivery etc) you will get best value selling these on ebay even after fees. If you sell to a coin dealer they will give you 50-60% of the value although you could get rid in one go.

One proviso is that you may want to get rid of the sovereigns but whatever you do DON'T sell them to a place or website that 'buys gold' you will get ripped off. There are bullion dealers that will pay 98% of the spot price for your Sovs.
