VG details all day due to the reverse scratches/digs. They are quite noticeable and deep.

What do you guys think?

My dad just sold his. It was a old NGC Ms62. The first time he showed it to me ,I turned it over and was quite shocked tbh. On the whole Buffalo's rear was a giant scratch! I mean deeper and longer then the one that you posted...and it was graded. So maybe they have a soft spot for buffalos? I wish I snapped some up closes before he got rid of it.

NGC in particular seems to go easy on the key dates, such as the 1877 IHC. That's probably the case here.

On a VG coin they tend to ignore smaller scratches like these. It might be a bigger issue if on a high grade coin.

I can see how this made it through. In hand the scratches are probably really small, and are barely noticeable. Sometimes I get a skewed perspective looking at giant photos at the molecular level.

Who really cares? Just another low grade coin being sold on ebay. There just has to be more interesting topics IMHO. Or, maybe studying our own coins!

1893S - very negative outlook on things here, and quite ignorant comment in fact. If there's more interesting topics to discuss, don't comment on this post. Simple as that.
