Early dates like the 1917-S occasionally turn up in my local coin shop's generic Walker bin. Grades are generally AG to marginal VG and I will usually pick them up if they are problem-free with decent eye appeal. Sure, you can get a VF coin from the '40s for the same $10 price but the early dates are much more appealing IMO.

AG3.

Not a fan for the price. When silver was over $30, these things were in the junk bins all the time. I put together a really nice set of VG-F coins in the tougher, non-key dates thanks to that run up.
