This is a ~50 cent coin, so I would be pretty surprised if it was fake. Looks to be a pretty good match to other examples online.

RR is right. This coin is not a fake; it is a 'fantasy' coin. If this is silver, this should be a 'TEN CENTS' coin. (7.2 candareens, approx. 17mm diameter).
Ten cash are copper, bronze or brass coins. I have seen genuine in all three metals, approx. 30mm diameter.

That site is a wiki, doesn't prove anything.

If there are some indicators that the coin is a fantasy coin or counterfeit, please let me know what they are. I'd like to know what to look for in the future. To my untrained eye, this coin seems consistent with legitimate Hu-Peh 10 cash coins.

That may be, I'm no expert. I'm just pointing out that the site you pointed out isn't definitive. It's user uploaded material. Could be just another of the same fantasy coin that someone uploaded.

The reason why I said it is a fantasy coin is that on my screen at least, it appears to be white metal, suggesting silver. No diameter or weight is given. Geniune ten cash coins are in copper bronze or occasionally in brass
There is no attempt by the manufacturer to deceive and so it must be some sort of fantasy coin, not an attempt to fake.
I would still have it in my collection, due to it's interest.

I hate to be argumentative, but I see a coppor coin in the OP, albeit its a picture taken under too harsh of lighting. But to my eyes clearly a copper coin.

Yeah, the lighting is bad, sorry for that. The coin is definitely copper though -- it's here in the lower right.
