Love this forum and I thought I'd drop a line to say hello.
I'm a fifty year old guy who for some unknown reason went to the bank one day and purchased $10.00 in rolled pennies looking for collectible pennies and copper.
I've been buying about $75.00 in pennies for the last eight month's and sorting for pre - 82's, Wheats and Canadian pennies. In addition I've come across many foreign pennies Panama, Bermuda, Barbados and even a 2 cent Euro, a sampling of some of my nicer finds have been.
1902 Indian Head 1909 Wheat several from the teens twenties and thirties. 1920 Canadian (in great shape) A few 1940's Canadian.
I love the thrill of never knowing what your going to find and have stuck with Loomis rolls as that seems to be where I tend to get more lucky.
I have four banks that I visit regularly and they are wonderful in ordering me rolls, providing penny wrappers and the tellers keep wheats and the occasional silver coins for me. :)
There is one other benefit I never see mentioned. I roll all my pre 82 pennies and store them in bins. After eight month's I've stored up a nice little amount that I could liquidate quite easily almost a mini savings account that I would never have otherwise saved.
Anyhow just wanted to say hello and I enjoy reading the posts on here. Great to know I'm not lone oddball in the world of bank roll hunting.
Regards TMK

Quote: I roll all my pre 82 pennies and store them in bins. You are not alone in doing this and be forewarned some people here will tell you you are the reason we don't need pennies because nobody spends them until they are worth 50 cents. Make sure to ignore these people as they miss the point of money and coin collecting and a base 10 number system. Don't let them distract you in the least from what you are doing! Maybe not recent but it has been mentioned in the past quite a bit where a few people were hoarding copper. I have a box I am making a roll of each year and MM of post wheats so 1959-1982 fit in the box, and another 2 boxes one each for random cents from 60 and 70s rolled, because why not? They likely will not be my saving, but the bicentennial halves I kept from searching boxes are a good bit of savings. So I know how that all works out to keep something until you decide you dont need it anymore then BOOM, monetary windfall from your closet! Also some pretty good finds there. Like you I lock up these foreign invaders so they don't keep running all over the place. It is often more exciting to find one of them than just another wheat.

welcome, and nice finds! It sure is an addictive hobby and you never know what you will find. It's much like fishing.
1920 canadian is awesome, great find. Oldest I have found is 1938.
It sounds like your banks are treating you well. Good luck in your finds!

The thrill of the hunt, the challenge of building a collection for face, all the things CRH delivers on consistently. Some boxes are better for sure...but each has something to deliver. Good luck on the hunt!

Welcome TMK65!
When I started roll hunting US and Canadian cents I accumulated quite a stash of various coins. I bought a couple boxes of square coin tubes to hold my finds that I sort by date and mintmark. When a tube is filled I roll that for longer term storage, marking the rolls.
I have since filled many rolls. US cents from the 30's and before as well as Canadians from the 50's and earlier are always put in 2x2's as are foreign coins and any that I deem to be worthy. The rest are tubed and would be rolled when 50 are collected.
I have had pretty good luck with roll hunting cents, it is a lot of fun.
Enjoy!
