The design of this coin looks very nice but I don't know why it seems to be unpopular to general coin collectors.

I know why the Queen didn't use rose as the floral design on the back of the coin as she is the Queen of UK and not merely England. It is not political right to use roses on the coin.

But I don't know what kind of plant is there. If anyone know, please let me know. Thank you. Henry

They're probably unpopular because they are everywhere. Most of the commemorative crown sized coins are available in abundance, it's easier to get one than to get rid of one.

No idea what the plant is but I also don't think it bears much relevance like perhaps a thistle would on a Scottish coin for example.

On second thoughts they might be Iris flowers, because they're associated with 25th anniversaries..

I read through Iris from Wiki but can't find anything about this flower is related with 25th Anniversary. UKpennyhunter, can you elaborate more. I want to learn more about that. Thank you. Henry

Thank you your information Tryna. But I still think the flora on the coin is still not Iris. A minor question, forget it. Henry

I compare side by side very carefully and find the plant of this coin is same as the 1977 25 NP. I now believe they are both Iris, that is, a plant to symbolized 25th Anniversary.

Thank you all of you to intrigue me about your western culture.
