I was getting groceries and spotted this in one of those book bins and had to get it. After looking it up, I now know it's part of a series of books, so I may have to get more! Can anyone identify the coin for me (I can't show you the reverse )?

Sure looks like the exact same coin, with some small changes ... wonder if they got permission.

This is why I go to places like Goodwill or Salvation Army stores. Just in case.

Here is thread on coins and literature https://goccf.com/t/234929Here is another book with coins on the cover. Also, if you want to support a local author the guy who owns Coinquest Limited published a mystery book revolving around coins. I can't think of the name of the book or the owner of the coin shop to save my life at the moment.

Every coin (besides uncirculated) has a story of it's own... But it can be a bit hard to find

Quote: The King's Deception book--did the plot revolve around coins? I'm not sure yet. The inside jacket blurb says this, "The answer is a long-buried secret that calls into question the legitimacy of the entire forty-five-year reign of Elizabeth I, the last Tudor monarch..."

I wonder if I read that as a kid, I used to love the Hardy Boys books - my grandmother used to pick them up for me all the time. As a writer, I've always wanted to do a story that revolved around coins, and I'm sure I will someday. Let me know if you think of the book and the guy's name.

I dug out by ordering form from Coin Quest and found the advert. I tend to not read fiction at all but I might pick it up. http://www.amazon.com/The-Godless-K...p/0988934302Quote: Idyllic Valley, Maine is shocked after a priceless rare coin is taken in a vicious robbery. When friends and business partners Rick Hunter and Melanie Hart pursue the thief, they soon find themselves caught up in a seedy underworld of counterfeiting and international intrigue. They encounter the thief in Paris, but events quickly take a terrifying turn, and the hunters become the hunted The Melted Coins was actually the first Hardy Boy book I read. My mother had a complete collection of original Hard covered Hardy Boys and Nancy Drews. When my maternal Grandfather got a job offer in Gander he couldn't be bothered to lug them all the way from Glace Bay so into the fire they all went. As a collector that almost brings a tear to my eye.

The NB library doesn't even have a copy I'll find one for myself - it has good reviews. Thanks.

I've seen that book in a used book sale, but I didn't buy it. What I did buy is a first printing copy of Airport, and ARCs of Pandora's clock and Medusa's Child. The blurb reminds me of The Doomsday Conspiracy (Sidney Sheldon thriller novel), I'll consider getting a copy of it if I see it next time.

Buy the coin before you buy the book? I once read a Nancy Drew book whose plot revolved around the 1933 Double Eagles.
