My 2007 Proof Silver Eagle that I received from the mint has a nice deep slash through the W mint mark. I don't have much experience with error coins. I would find it difficult to believe that it is simple damage because of the way proof coins are handled by the mint and the appearance of the rest of the coin. So I'm inclined to believe that something must have gotten into the die (is that how you spell it?) when the coin was struck. Have there been any other reports of this with the 2007 silver eagles? How should I expect this to impact its value? Is it simply a damaged coin now? I would have posted a picture, but I'm not well versed on uploading images to the net.

Any help is apprecieted.

Thanks

Dorion

Does the slash look something like this:

It could be a strike thru error or it could be damage. Pictures of it would be better at determining what it really is.

An image would be absolutely necessary to answer any of the above questions. Sorry.

sleaklight and coppercoins thanks for you replies. I guess I'll have to research how to upload a picture. Hopefully I can get something up soon. Can I just copy and past a picture into my post?
