I like to carry coins in my pocket, but there have been issues. The coins sometimes fall out or get sent through the wash. Worst of all, coins wear the pockets out, and I've got a lot of wrecked pockets to show for it.

While on vacation I found some leather coin purses for under $5 which are solving the problem. They have 2 compartments. The first is spring steel, opened with a squeeze to put ordinary change in the big pouch

The second compartment is zippered and made to hold a couple of keys. This is where the good coins go

Excellent!

I've got a little coin purse that snaps shut -- for the good coins. All the rest of the change goes into a little zippered case, where it waits to be searched. They both ride around in my purse.

It's easier for women who carry purses to come up with storage options. And it's getting harder and harder to find change purses and wallets that actually carry cash and not just plastic.

Glad you found something that works for you.

That upper snap is a great holder for up to half a dozen plastic cards, especially flat ones like hotel keys and gift cards. The spring steel grabs them and holds them like an alligator's mouth.

Very nice!

If I had something like this I would be less reluctant to spend cash.

It's an 1884cc eagle with damage. A pocket won't hurt it.

You could look into one of those coin changers like transportation conductors use.

If a man-purse is a "murse", does that make a coin-purse a "curse"?
