I found 3 or 4 S mint mark State Quarters, didn't check for S on ATB. I have all my national park quarters in rolls, might as well look through them when I have time.

I have a Hawaii Volcanoes S mint I found in circulation! Made my day. My aunt let me go through her change. Lucky times because I also pulled a 1964 quarter!

It was my understanding that the "S" mint coins were not intended to be released for circulation but rather minted to circulation specs and sold at a premium price in rolls and bags.
Like any other NIFC coins some make their way into circulation in several ways.

Not yet.
I imagine some will end up in circulation as dealers pull out the best ones and put the rest in circulation.
However, some enterprising collectors may also toss some in change to spark young numismatists. I've got some El Yunque and Homestead San Francisco business strikes I'd like to get rid of that way.

Interesting question. I have not found any. I would think it more likely to find a S mint proof, than a S mint business strike in circulation. The S mint business strikes started in 2012. The mint has only sold them in rolls or bags. The mintages so far have been in the low to mid 1.x million. These should be the sleepers for the ATB series.

I had found one of the S mint ones last fall while roll hunting. It was not the proof version but NIFC I assume. I don't remember which design it was though. I did keep it and stuck it in a 2 X 2. I haven't searched any more quarters for the last year or so.

Some morons might've spent somebody else's coin collection, and a couple slipped away; but all accidentally.

I have not found any. RedBook says they are NIFC. It looks like another way for a mint to make a buck :( Now I feel like I need a collection of those as well...arrggh...where does it all end? x(

This topic got me thinking...we should have a National Circulate Collectible Coins Day. Numismatists who are interested could spend coins like S-Mint ATB Quarters (or any ATB Quarters for that matter), impaired proofs, dateless Buffalo nickels, and so forth to put a smile on another collector's face.
