She came home with me, and I am honnered! 1848 78MM Jenny Lind, known as the " Swedish Nightingale", was given $150,000.00 by P. T. Barnum to come to America and sing in 1850. Her popularity preceded her . Tickets to preformances were auctioned off due to high demand and went for as much as $650.00 for a ticket. Big chunk of change in 1850.

Amazingly Beautiful!
The details are quite stunning and I love the small intricacies of the reverse

In each wreath on the reverse is the name of a role she sang in different operas. Surprisingly, here passion was not opera but "free lancing" for lack of a better term. perhaps this is what made her so endered to the American public. A free spirit if you will.

G'day, one of the reasons, probably the greatest reason, that I collect coins and tokens, is that it enables me to be "in touch" with people and events, far, far away - in both time and space. Your token is stunningly beautiful. Jenny Lind is mentioned occasionally in novels by Swedish author Henning Mankell. Peter in Oz
