There is no value on Machine Doubling on the nickel dollars, unless it is on the date itself.... Jays win!!

Just out of curiosity SPP, how many nickel dollars do you think you have sent the way of the ARP? Must be getting to be a meaningful proportion?

There were anywhere from <2 million (1977) to 10 million (1982 Constitution) nickel dollars minted per year. Most ended up coin dealer buckets or in bank vaults over the years. I probably handle about $15,000 nickel dollars per year, since 2010. All the culls for me went to my bank, which sends them directly to the mint. I keep the rare varieties and MS-64 (and better) grades), which is usually only about 2 coins per hundred...

SPP ... don't forget the $200 or so you get me every year for the beer cart girls at the golf course.

I had never really focused on the nickel dollar mintages until now. I assumed they were more like the 50 cent mintages....a few hundred thousand a year.
Where did all those nickel dollars go at the outset? I guess to casual collectors and Xmas stockings.....then to drawers....then to dealers' buckets. I guess it is going to take quite a while for the population to dwindle through the ARP.
