This is a new one for me..basically every letter has some amount of doubling..

RTC ..the experts would say..or DD (double die)

Thanks all..!!

Okiecoiner has mentioned that there are many variations on the doubling of the obverse legend.

Shift to the right on some..also upwards..
Shift to the left on others.. or also downwards..

...and lesser noticeable shifts on others..

So if you want them all,..you might take a lifetime collecting them all...

Once a planchet is loose in the keeper/holder, it can shift minutely any direction (including rotationally) and MD can look quite different. What makes the '81's so neat is that many letters were individually repunched in addition to MD on the same coin.
