First mistake is describing them as 7 coins and photographing and listing the dates of 6 (Typo probably)
What else did he do wrong?

It would be nice if it included an 1885. He probably just misread the date '1895', the first coin in the pictures.

Checking his other sales, he mostly accepts best offer. So maybe he just lists them at a high price waiting for someone to give him a "lowball" but in reality, that "lowball" is actually the price he was looking for.
Weird tactic.

Weird tactic, but if he's in no rush to sell because it's out of scope for his regular business and someone eventually gives him over market value, he laughs all the way to the bank and those of us who "only" get market value have less than he does. I'm sure he knows what he's doing.

Make you wonder how much he is willing to pay for a similar handful in similar condition. I would be ashamed to ask so much for coins that common.
But I cannot in good faith criticize another's business without first hand experience, so to each their own and always remember, do your own due diligence.

Ha! That place is right by where used to work; they have two shops a few miles apart from each other. tiny little place if remember correctly. I think back in 2012 I stopped in on a whim as I was driving past and inquired about pre 1965 coins and he wanted like 2-3 times face more than what my LCS was charging.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that listing whatsoever. Are you part of the asking-price police now? Do you want somebody telling you how much you're allowed to ask for your stuff before you will be subject to ridicule? I don't. Quote: Weird tactic. Not weird at all. It's an extremely popular method of selling on ebay, high asking price with a best off option. Done 24/7/365. There's tons of listings like this on ebay. Fry the fish that need to be fried, this is just silly IMO.

Not saying there's anything wrong with it. I didn't realize what he was doing until after I posted this thread, haha. Never heard of anyone doing this.

I stopped reading the listing, when I saw this below the price. Shipping: Does not ship to Canada
