So I am going through some coins I got a garage sale and found through Numista that one of my coins is "rare" at just over 1 million mintage. A 1952 UK six pence. My question is, what is something like this worth? Where would be the best place to look for UK coin prices? A quick ebay scan shows from about $5-20 but was just curious. Will get pics up once the email from my phone reaches my computer :P thanks!

The following quotation is taken from this website:-

http://www.coins-of-the-uk.co.uk

"Because of the Korean War, which created a demand for nickel, no cupronickel coins were struck for circulation in the UK dated 1952. However, a relatively small number (1,013,477) of sixpences of that date were struck for use in the West Indies, and coins of that date were only occasionally found in circulation in the UK."

You will also see that the author, Tony Clayton, has a section on the value of coins of the UK.
Hope this helps.

The easy way to get a price is look it up in Spinks. This book is the equivalent for English coinage that a Red Book is for USA.

Unfortunately I only have a very out of date copy (useful for getting the catalogue numbers and seeing relative worth but not going to be accurate now)

In 2002 it listed it as type 4110 valued as VF-£3 EF-£15 UNC-£40

Ok some good info then! And getting this coin plus about 70 others for $20 makes it not too bad a deal then! Thanks!
