Learning to use my new microscope and "found" these during the process. And to think these have been just lurking around for 30+ years and I never knew.

fourmack, okay. What's a 'good' background to use when photographing coins? These are the first coins I've ever done. Done lots of currency but this is a first so I'm definitely open to ANY suggestions. Thanks.

Okay, here's obverse and reverse of first 1859; I think I put the other one in the wrong holder and will have to find it again, sorry.

Again, apologies for poor pictures, but I will get it right soon. but working on it.

What's funny is this one was in a holder that just said Canada 1859 Large Cent , go figure.

Sigh...!!

I'm so fussy on this ...Why are the cent pics above somewhat egg shaped..?
If you can get it straight on ..all will fall into perfect focus..(and round shape)

That's my biggest dilemma..I have trouble getting all of the coin surface in focus .. Some here are pros at coin photography..

Sometimes different resolutions tend to do that, try shooting in 800x600 mode, or play around with the modes till its good. I've noticed my microscope does it too but not in most modes.

It's my fault; I did a little cropping of the original photo and elongated it a wee bit too much; I'll try not to do that with future pictures. Still learning how to use this new microscope but sure am finding things I never knew I had.

Started looking through my Whitman Canada Type Set album and first coin I looked at was this one: I think it's:
Obverse 25 Reverse F1 ?

== loop 7 and leaf 8
Serendipity-With-New-Microscope
== loop 2

Took a long time for this neophyte to follow all the links but I'm working on it. Now, what have I missed?
