RAW Coin
NOTES:
1. Possible S over S?
2. First image accurately shows lustre on coin
3. Blems are enhanced and not apparent to the eye!

Appears to have been replated, too shiny and proofish looking.

The filling in of the area between the lettering and the rim also gives the appearance of replating. Need to check the sides.

The zinc coating was stripped off the coin in an acid bath. The coin was then replated with zinc to enhance the appearance. They usually have a mirror finish with a bluish tint. Original steel seats will have a silver matte finish.

A long time ago there were companies that advertised in coin papers to "reprocess" steel cents. If I remember correctly, they did it on a percentage of the coins you sent and no money exchanged hands. Something like if you sent them 500 coins they'd reprocess them all and return you 250 finished coins. They kept the other 250 as their "fee" for doing the work.

Been replated IMO, we have 4 or 5 of these and they all look the same.
The 'shine' gives it away.

No, see how the doubling also effects the other devices?

I recently spent a cent like yours.
Rest in Peace
