I'm trying to stick to a coin plan and a budget, I try not to stray unless I find a great deal.

I found 20+ 1964 Kennedy half dollars for $5 each. Most are AU or better. ( None are slabbed or graded )

Is this a great deal?

90% Kennedies are worth 5.82 cents each . Melt value . of course that changes with silver values and what is a good deal today may not be tomorrow or it may be even a better deal if silver goes up.

thats a pretty good deal ! Today !

Having a plan and sticking to it is important, will you miss the money looking for something else you really want. The 64's are not endangered and just because melt is $5.80 doesn't mean you will be able to get $5 back out of them without the hastle of ebay or such. I would buy them as an investment but when its time to sell (the easy way), you have to have some quantity built up to get the better prices. And let ME tell ya $1000 face is alot of coins. Would I buy them- if I was standing right there swapping FRNs? Yes. Would I pay to have them shipped to ME? No.
I ventured away from the plan myself a few monthes ago and bought 142 Walkers the coin shop hadn't raised the price on yet and I got them for melt, $5.50 each. I had sold enough 40%ers to cover it and thought of it as converting 40's to 90's. As soon as I got in the truck- it hit ME, that wasn't part of the plan. I didn't lose anything as I still have them but I could have used that money for hunting and made something off it. Just something to think about. HH Mark

I don't think I would do it, because I think silver is due for a correction downward. I would rather use the $100 and keep getting half rolls from the bank and build your 40% and 90% silver inventory from face value rolls. Eventually, you can turn that $100 of regular cash into $100 face value of silver. Then you sell the silver and use the money to buy the coins you like to focus on. JMHO
