So, Ive compared the 1971, 5 cent with 1969 "S" 1971 "D" and 1970 "S" Jefferson nickels. I did this comparison to see if there were difference's in (Discription's) between nickel's San Francisco minted v.s Denver and Philly.
I envaluated and concluded that San Francisco mint's differ between Denver and Phillidelphia. I notice that each mint is slightly different from "ONE" discriptive in alpha and numeral.
Hope, I didn't make a fool of myself if did... please just note this on the account" that I'm still green. For what it's worth after comparing the 3 Mintage's, thus added weight in percentage to possible 1971 no "S" proof.
Regardless, fact remains unconfirmed and possibility's challenged, so it is why, I seek your expertise, please advise with your thoughts and opinion?
I think your confusion lies in the fact that San Francisco produced business strike nickels, in addition to proof strikes, from 1968 to 1970. All S-mint nickels after 1970 are proof-only issues.
Yes, and adding to the confusion is the fact that the Dansco 8113 album did not include a hole for the S-Proof nickel in '68,'69 or '70?! They officially started designating the S-Proof's in 1971.
This is just one of the many omission flaws that plague an otherwise great coin album manufacturing company.
