I know it's not a 64 or 65, but it's a dandy 62...really looks like a 63 to me.

What did it set you back? I know it must have caused both joy and a little pain. If a coin is over $1000 it does cause me indigestion for a second or two unless I really need it to fill a set.

62 looks right to me.

Funny thing, a lot of ungraded GSA's are worth more than a graded 62 because of the chance they will grade 63.

It was $2785, and the thing is, you can easily throw down 4k for this very same coin. I love the coin and desperately needed it to continue forward on getting the CC GSA set. I probably won't get the 90CC until next year unless a screaming deal comes my way. I do have a bit of guilt over this one...

It has a weird smudge mark on the reverse, can't figure out what it is. I'm not too upset about it, these are just incredibly rare to come across.

Uh oh, can the "smudge" be a counter wheel mark? Do you see a "patch" of fine hairlines going in the same direction when you angle it back and fourth in the l8ght?

Even if it is, yes it would probably details it, but I doubt it would hurt the value much. I suggest pcgs for the big case on this one instead of the ngc "ribbon"

I have been looking at hundreds of toned Morgans on the Internet and this appears to be toning. The more I look at this coin, I'm shocked it's at 62. It should be a minimum of 62+...I may have it regraded because it's under graded IMO. I was shocked when I pulled it out of the box today.

The difference between 62 and 63 depends on how much is actually luster breaks in the frost. Very nice tough GSA Morgan.

Very nice coin. Rarely seen in a GSA holder and few, if any, will grade much better than 62. Congratulations!

Nice coin! You did well. I also agree that anything better that a 62 is going to be hard to find, and will cost $$$$$!

so, is the rarity of this coin, getting it in a GSA holder or just getting the coin?

Out of 1.6 million 91cc coins only about 5,600 were put in gsa slabs. Now, subtract X for how many were cracked before the gsa slabs added value and there can't be many around still.

On the other hand ONLY 1 single 89cc was put in a gsa slab. Imagine what that puppy is worth

so this is a case where someone is buying the slab instead of the coin?

The majority of the value is that the coin is still in the GSA holder and therefore retains it's GSA provenence. There were not many 79, 90 and 91 coins in the hoard to begin with and they command a stiff premium when found in original packaging.
