Hi, I collect mostly Cuban coins, but I run into this unusual coin.
I wonder if you could help me with the Arabic wording and the nominal value of this coin.
Thanks in advance!

It just re-iterates what the coin says in English: "United Arab Emirates, 1 Dirham".

This is the small type 1 Dirham, starting production in 1995. Its size is identical to that of 1 Piso coin of the Philippeans and are mixed up sometimes.
The date on it is 1995. It's got dual date, one for gregorian (or simply "our" calendar) and Islamic.

The Hindu-Arabic and European numerals 1 and 9 look very alike. Hindu-Arabic (not Persian/Farsi) numerals 4, 5 and 6 look like our 3, 0 and 7 respectively, though mirrored. Good to know when dating world coins

Thank you, guys! I must confess that I am a little disappointed. I expected some owesome motto or a quote from Koran. Thanks for the info about the date. I could have swear this coin was from 1990 :)
