Hello all.
This is my first post. I recently picked up this coin. Paid melt value for it since the seller was unsure of its authenticity. Weighs 22.7 grams, supposed to weigh 25 grams even. Appears to be very well done if it is a counterfeit. Looking to sell. Any input on this coin is appreciated!

Regards, Hayden

The weight is a huge giveaway.

Thanks. Should it just be melted then so it does not fall into unsuspecting hands?

Melting is difficult and extreme, but now might be a great time to test out your artistic skills by defacing the thing.

Its probably not silver but of Chinese origin so Fe/Ni or German Silver (Cu/Ni/Zn). Get the Gurney Counterfeit book for background purposes. First 200 pages is worth the price even if your not into Spanish. Although every time I say this people think I am bullsh**** them ... whatever ... for them to buy another book at Amazon.

If you do own this book "Would you buy this coin at this weight?" Just asking ... LOL.

True - some people know this already without this book. But we do see this everyday on E-Bay ... just saying from other forum feeds. Whatever ...

Excellent advice John. This particular counterfeit was available in the 1980s and is usually silver. I think the source back then was Lebanon or that area. They fooled more than a few newbs back in the day.
