First purchase of silver? You must believe in going big! That is quite a coin and I shudder to think of what it would do to my checking account.

Thanks for sharing.

Very, VERY nice. Looks genuine. But I would be VERY careful from here on out if you are just jumping into buying very high-dollar coins.

That would be my first purchase of silver too, provided I had won the lottery beforehand.

That's like a 15K-20K coin. Wow. Awesome. Incredible. Not enough words to say wow. I wish I could afford something that nice.

99.9% of what I have are in Liberty's and Saints, so this is a thrilling new venture for me.
It is in a NGC holder.

Most collectors start with small stuff and go up while you start at the top. You have $20 Saint-Gaudens? I read good article in Coins Magazine where one of the staff sold a couple of Saints at Heritage Auction. He prices he got for 1908-S in VF, 1913-S in MS61 and 1914 MS62 were 1300, 1900 and 1800 bucks, respectively. Only 22,000 of the 1908-S Saints were minted and it sold for $1300. That is almost the spot price for gold. He sold a 1922-S for $2300 because most of these coins were in the meltdown and never even made it out of the vaults. I envy you your Saints and I would hold onto them until sanity returns. I know you need gelders to buy some of these coins but has the difference between the gold and numismatic value ever been so slight for rare gold coins?

Wow. Just... wow. I just purchased my first ever pre-1800 coin, and it's the same as this one but 1799 instead of 1798. And also only VF25 instead of AU58. And that's after years of collecting silver and slowly working my way earlier and earlier. I can't imagine ever buying one as nice as yours, let alone as my first silver purchase, so thank you so much for sharing and letting me drool over yours!
