This last weekend I just found and purchased 2 HOT 50.
I think I found a 1878 8TF VAM 14.5 and a 1921P VAM 3c2.
Here are the pics from where I found coins. Please need some confirmation especially on the 14.5

Not sure about the 1878 but the 1921 may be the 3c3. I think I see the clash on the reverse and you will have to check the hair vee for the "T" transfer on the obverse.

Both attributions look good to me ;) Not the best with 8TFs, but it appears to be 14.5

We must have been typing at the same time. You are far better with 1878 so I'll defer to you.. on the 1921-P it appears to be a later die state, which that 2 is later than the 3. I am thinking the original attribution is correct, but have been wrong before..

Where am I wrong with the 1878?
Seems to have the Reverse A1d,the spiked A and the open nostril

It does seem to match the V14.5 to me, but Noel is more knowledgeable than I..
Personally it does appear you have the correct attribution on both coins.

I think VAM 3C2 is correct as the earlier die state 3C3 plate coin does not have the radial die crack on the reverse near the E in ONE.
I'm not sure about the 14.5. It may be a VAM7 but I can't tell for sure. A close up of the E in ONE would be beneficial.

You had a much better weekend than I did. Congrats on the picks!

The 1878 is a VAM 7 - note that the dot between E and P is doubled, also the R in pluribus is visibly doubled at the lower left. The 14.5 and 7 do have the same reverse die.

I already have a VAM 7 but the open nostril fooled me. But surely your eyes more experts are right. In any case, I look forward to receive the coin for more pic confirmation.

Thanks
Rest in Peace

Ha, that is why I said I would defer to Noel because he is more knowledgeable especially with 1878. Hey, at least it's an 8TF ;)
