The rim looks wide but the date looks far... I presume it is narrow rim but only because that is the common type, could anyone confirm please.

What year? The wide rim-near dates are only on the 1979-P SBA. The 1980 was all the wide rims.

If your pic is a 79 it's a far date. The near date is the collectable one.

It is indeed a 1979, and thanks for confirming that it is the common variety :S

I am a bit of a novice with the USA coinage and just got a book... so now I am trying to check if I have anything interesting.
