I have several coins where the letters are messed up. I posted a D in a different post where the D is filled in on the mint mark, still awaiting more comments.

But lets take Lincoln pennies, I have several where the B in LIBERTY, the top part of the B is solid.

I also have a 2009 where the E in LIBERTY is solid on the top (space between first and second lines is solid).

I of course will post pictures when I am able to get good ones, but in general does this make a coin have any value other than face value?

Then centers of certain devices are made with a pin. The centers of the "B" and the "D" mint marks. (Others also, just nothing else comes to mind right now) but when the pin breaks off, that area is now filled because the die is missing that part of the device.
