Anybody know if this is a thing? I found two of these with the same crack in a roll. Starts at the edge by the "E" in Liberty, across the hair and forehead, down over the left eye, etc. etc. all the way to the other rim between the 1 and 9.

Going over JFK's left eye, it looks like a nasty scar. I dub thee the "Blofeld" error.

Identical on both, but one is more pronounced, no doubt as the die deteriorated.

Pics" Yeah, well, um... My micro-photog capability is pitiful, but I will try. Meanwhile, anybody have any knowledge to offer?
Rest in Peace

It's just what you wrote it was.

I think it would be fun to keep an eye out for more of the same and put together a little collection (in order!) of the die state as it deteriorates.

Yeah, I've found quite a few of these over the years.

Below is a current listing I found on the Bay (not mine) of a similar coin.

Some folks refer to this as the "Crying Kennedy Die Crack". I find them pretty regularly.

Wow, JDRMCB, the seller has 29 available! Nothing like tipping off potential buyers that it's a common error.
Rest in Peace

Die cracks and Cuds are die states and generally never one-of-a-kind errors.

This press seems to have turned out quite a few. I'll have to check for the die clash on the rev.

When the die cracks, all coins struck after that even will have the same issue and even get worse as the die is continued to be used.

yea I have that one that's actually why I created an account.. On mine the line appears to be emanating from inside the ear up and back and the other out of the eye down around the nose and corner of the mouth also falling backward from the eye splitting the cheek under the jaw and down the neck... I know that's a lot of info, not to be sentimental but it looks like blood and tears and where the man's head head was blown off.. ?
