Hey guys, I just picked up an almost complete morgan set in 3 old Whitman Books for get this... just under $40 per coin! A mix of G to BU and I must say I think I scored. Only missing holes are 79cc, 85cc, 93o, 93s, 94p, 95 proof (duh) & 95s... I know the set has been "complete" and just sitting in a collection for a while due to the prices written on a 3x5 card for the empty holes at the time. 93s in G6 for $135!? I wish lol So, on this thread I wanted to show off the ultra cool circulated 1903o (once THE rarest morgan and very scarce today in this grade) and a stunning 1888o that I'd like grade thoughts on. I think ms66 or 66+ is possible do you? I'm not that good at grading differences above 65. She's a stunner for an O ain't she!... I dare not even touch the 88o until I get her slabbed. Even sliding the slides for the pic was a calculated operation lol

1888 o solid 65 maybe 66. 1903o probably vg10-f12. You willing to trade I need a few Carson city coins like 1880cc and AU or better 1878cc. I'll drop you an email.

Congratulations on your score. There are a lot of key dates left like 81CC, 89CC, 93CC, 03S, and 04S. I would like to pick up a 89CC for under $40.

Sorry guys, that was a typo. The 89cc is NOT there. As for what I'm doing with them I'm soaking them all in right now, vamming them and deciding which to get slabbed etc. when I have time. I bought them with the intention of selling them individually to make $ and probably keep a few. I'm super busy with work right now so slow goes it but I'll probably be posting some in grading for opinions when I can get around to it. Edit to add that I don't want this to get into a "am I selling this or that" as its against the rules plus I'm not ready to let anything go yet

Not sure what you paid, but you picked up my pet peeve and a really nice example of '88-O. Way to go! Any interesting VAMs?

Goodness gracious, Cascade. You trying to keep up with Ralph? Man, I need that 1903-O. I know there are many mint state examples, but the fact that this rare issue circulated to that extent is crazy cool. An amazing acquisition you have there, sir. I can't wait to see the pictures of the album pages.
Where in the world did you get this collection?

Would love to see the 1895 proof, I am too Morgan ignorant to truely grasp the rarity of the 2 posted but I understand somewhat
Feel free to call me Will.

Great pickup. Imo the 88 O will grade no higher than a 65. The cheek looks decent, but way too many other marks, especially on the reverse fields.

Thanks guys, I'll try to get some quick album pics tonight or tomorrow if I can. I should have a little free time tomorrow but my sisters about to give birth so that might put another cramp in my schedule going to the hospital and all. With me, when it gets busy it gets busy lol

It was a live & online auction house I hadn't dealt with before with bad pics. This was somewhat of a gamble on my part but I'm very happy with the results

'88-O in 65 is a $500 coin and that one looks about there. No higher though.
