I believe this coin is in the wrong forum. The pics are a little to small to grade properly trying cropping them

1968 Elizabeth II gold sovereign, Choice Uncirculated = ANA MS63. Value approx. £230 or USD$350. 4.2 million minted in 1968, the last year of pre-decimalization gold sovs.

Definitely not 1909, Elizabeth II didn't take the throne until 1952.
Nice sovereign, though.

Elizabeth II wasn't even alive in 1909.

Yes. Mods, can you move this thread to the British forum?

I stink at gold but I can give it a shot.

First there are a lot of marks from handling
I think there is slight wear in her hair
either weak strike or wear above the forehead in the hair

The Rev has slide marks and wear from a cabinet or table
I think it is more from touching and improper display than circulation
I give it a US grade of VF 35 to XF40
A British grade of about VF

But like I said...

I would say VF too...

These coins are just bullion value really since they are common. As a generality its only when you get back to Victoria bunheads and Shield backs they start gaining numismatic value.

Still it is satisfying to keep gold and who knows for the future since so many of these coins get melted by the jewellery trade.
