That's right. The KM# 730 "cinco pesos convertibles" coin, struck only in 1999 is virtually unknown to Cubans, in spite of the fact that it is officially in circulation since 2004.
It shows the image of Ernesto Guevara aka "Che Guevara" on the reverse and the Cuban coat-of-arms on the obverse.
The fact that this is the only bimetallic circulating coin ever issued in Cuba, and that it was not put into circulation in 1999 caused the price of this coin to skyrocket from its facial value of 5 USD to 60 USD (World Coins, 32nd Edition).
The curious thing here is that, even after it was put into circulation in 2004, this coin is virtually non-existent, up to the point most Cubans have never seen it or heard about it! If you try to buy something with this coin in Cuba, they will probably think is a counterfeit coin. So, saying this coin is "into circulation" is nothing but a joke.
Prices, therefore, have remained high at 30-40 USD... of you can find it.
