Nice find! Lamination and Woody The wood grain look is a result of a bad alloy mix and the lamination error is the result of being struck on a defective planchet.

Thanks. I guess I need to find some acetone. Can I get that at hardware store?

Yes or paint store or Home Depot or Lowes or Walmart, etc. If you use it, do so with care. Lots of bad fumes! Don't rub it on. Rubbing a coin can cause minute scratches. Soak, then dab lightly - some say use an old toothbrush, but I think those bristles are too hard. An oil painting brush with very soft but stiff bristles is my preference.

Be careful around lamination, less the loose metal be peeled off.

Others may want to debate the use. Some will say start with soap and water.

Thanks, Pete.

(I just heart on the news that the Paris Bombers used Acetone.) Yikes! Maybe I'll try soap and water first.

Acetone is less agressive than most compounds, but it is powerful - I just happened to learn this week that it is the solvent for dried Superglue!

I finally found a name for the kind of brush I use: it is a stencil brush.

CoinMasters, I've never heard of Skinny Looking Lincoln. Is that because of the sunken in look of the cheek bone?

How do you like this one? The Lam goes all the way through it. It is about a $20.00 coin. Not bad for a penny huh?
