Hard to tell, but it kind of looks like this penny took a hit. But it also looks like its an error because the letters are not distorted but are moved down slightly.. Thank you!

It has to be post strike damage. The only way that coin could have been struck that way is if the die was mis-shaped.
It was most likely thrown at a hard surface very violently.

The letters are normal, you can usually tell by comparing it to another coin of the same date and mint. The rim qualifies it as PSD.

This can only happen after the coin was struck. The coin was probably dropped or thrown down on cement. You can see where the rim is bulging outward from this event in the coins life. The WE is not in the shape that the coin was struck with.

Thank you. I will have to look at them more closely next time for the clues of buldging etc. I'm learning a lot about PMD/PSD and the things to look for.. :)
