I completed this research a few years ago and would like to share my findings. The issued aluminum and pattern copper specimens are still in my collection. Each medal is 48 mm in diameter and 4 mm thick. It was also designed by C. L. Chapelle. The initials CLC can be seen on the obverse. issued and pattern mintage are still unknown. Most issued specimens have been holed (in order to wear it around one's neck).
