I would contend the VF details that remain in the drapery and face keep this in VF despite the worn letters in Liberty's shield. It's a beautiful coin :) Nice find!

I'm at VF25 on this one.

DSFreeWorld - that is one weird looking Half Dime. The scratches on the reverse are surely PMD but I'm a bit stumped on what happened to the reverse. Strange.

I am thinking VF-20, possibly 25.

I have always contended that it was either a mint error or if PMD, someone heated something up and began to melt away at the reverse to perhaps mount a clip of some sort and turn it into a pin or a cuff link. Either way, the coin has never seen circulation and its an oddity. I don't believe I paid more than $60 for it years ago.

The shield is strictly a product of weak strike.

CAC agreed that it was a choice VF20.

thanks for all the looks and guesses

That's a sweet No Stars dime at VF20. Nice surfaces and excellent eye appeal, to my eyes at least!
