Nice. I was inquiring about the 28s nickel specifically because I haven't seen that there is a large and small mm for that denomination. So I was wondering if it had the small or large mm. Sorry I'm getting a little off topic.

The reference that coop made re: the 1928 large S : small S on page 70 of Daughtrey's book must be a different version that mine. I have the second ed., and the graphic is located on p.101. This is just an FYI

Most of this is all new to me. I didn't know so many large/small dates and mint marks were out there. Like most important distinctions, this has probably been discussed in earlier threads but I'm glad this one has come back or I'd have missed this tidbit entirely.

I have the First edition version. I received book # 11 with his signature on it. (from him directly) I use a different copy for my daily use.

I checked the " Red Book" on this subject and have some information on Large and Small mint marks:

Can you please clarify that last sentence on nickels and dollars coop? Thank you. Also keep your eyes peeled in the contest section. Just working on taking pics now.

Ah, thank you! On the first picture you made the word 'just' at the end throws off what you mean.
