Was being referred to as a no p but with the mint mark not existing is could be P,D or S?

It turned out not to be a Henning nickel but a 1944 no mintJefferson nickel Silver War Struck Through Grease completely removed no signs of tampering. The author had showed it JT Stanton and a few others and they agreed it was legitimate error.
I will have it back Tuesday with several other coins I never posted from getting pictures for a new nickel variety book.
