Hi all, been a while
This note caught my eye whilst cashing up the other week. Nothing special serial number wise, just the little stamp in the top corner. It looks like it has been inked into the note when it was printed, rather than stamped on afterwards. I thought it was worth posting nevertheless and get you knowledgeable mob to cast your eyes over it......if I can remember how to post pictures.
Cheers
Curley

The defacing of Australian notes in this manner is a crime under the Crimes (Currency) Act 1981. I doubt the police use such obvious markings (which might raise the drug dealer's suspicions if all the notes had similar such markings), when all the cops really need to do is record the serial numbers of the notes they use.

Rather, stamps like this are applied by foreign currency exchange booths. This seems to be a common practice, particularly in Asia.

Yeah,AFAIK the notes are scanned before being issued to undercover Police, however in some cases they can make the markings obvious to suit their particular motives at the time.
Not sure what the marking(looks like a press stamp) is in the OP,haven't seen it before.
