I'm new here, so I hope I'm doing this right; please correct me if not. Anyway, I thought this coin might be of some interest as a grading challenge because it has an interesting mix of good and not-so-good characteristics.

Yeah , I like it too. MS64BN . When you said not so good characteristics ,did you mean the semi-blotchy color ? If so; that's nothing to be concerned with.

There seems to be something on the obverse field over the top of LIBERTY?
But, nice coin..

Very nice coin MS-64? And to me the "blotchyness" does not distract from the coin.

You guys are sharp! Not sure how long board protocol says to wait before the "reveal," but the 64BN trend here is in agreement with PCGS. Thanks for that comment T-BOP. The blotchiness, if that's a word, varies according to light and angle (nothing unique there, I guess), and the photograph happens to maximize it. I'm actually liking it more the more I look. It flashes some purple, green, and gold in varying conditions. There are a couple of what I think are carbon spots in front of Abe's nose. I think what's above Liberty is a color variation slightly exacerbated by a scratch on an otherwise pretty clean holder. Thanks for the input, everybody. BTW, this coin is part of my humble new quest, which is to get an uncirculated piece from each of the first 20 years of the series. Something about those coins is fascinating to me.

Not that I think it should be...but surprised PCGS did not put a details on this Lincoln because of the color.

LIKE this coin. Very nice! 64BN (should be RB though).
