This coin appears to be naturally colored black and brown. Would this be considered a "Black Beauty" nickel? If so, what causes this? Does it add value to the coin? I welcome and appreciate your feedback. :)

FYI: The 1972 nickel in my hand is the same one on the right in the plate.

Hard to see image but looks like PMD - buried/acid damage

Improperly Annealed Nickel should be a solid gunship grey.. any varied color, red or silver showing through is most likely environmental or PMD

the green coin and the slabbed coin are both Improperly Annealed

Oh ok. Thanks for the info. I get a lot of those grey looking ones from the 50s. Are they worth much or is it just condition on those?

If anything, coins with this type of damage are worth less (if there was any premium to begin with). An improperly annealed coin would probably be worth something, I would think.
