I picked up the below colonial at the Chattanooga Show. At just $30, I consider it a bargain. Despite a few old scratches, I'm attracted to the heavy lamination lines, the even wear and mahogany color.

As much as I enjoy attributing coins, these Conn. Cents admittedly frustrate me; especially so, these so often seen lower grade pieces. I'm wondering if this is the so-called "Horned Bust" variety? What I find most interesting about this piece are the seemingly extended nose and thick lips. Sadly, the last digit in the date is indecipherable.

Is there sufficient detail apparent to peg this variety?

Old girl's in rough shape. Defective planchet, cleaned.

Looks like a 1786 Mailed Bust Left, Miller 5.11-R?

Reverse has right hand close to INDE and ET is very close to capless pole, fancy serif on lower left bar of N in INDE which is spaced starting around 8:00; has single line above date; large letters.

Thanks, Paralyse, I think you pegged it. Much appreciated!

She's not been harshly cleaned. I brightened the pic to give more definition for the ID.

Ah. Okay. It seemed very bright red. Good find for $30.
