Hi everyone! I have been collecting coins for a while, with no particular theme or end goal in mind, until few years back I stumbled upon this masterpiece of a coin (see below). Being a big fan of astronomy and beginner-level astrophysics in the high school, it immediately clicked, so I started seeking out space-themed coins in general, and "meteorite coins" in particular. I appreciate that the opinion on these coins in the numismatics community is quite divided, but I really enjoy them and over years I found a few people who were initially skeptical about them but eventually came across to appreciate the art and the otherworld-ness of these coins. From what I saw on this great community forum, these coins do not get as much attention as they should, and I am eager to bring some of my limited knowledge about these coins to the wider public... as long as you have no objections. :) Rgds, MoonRock. Moonrock - to CCF. You're right, there doesn't seem to be a huge input on space-themed coins, but I'm hoping you'll change that. Your coin is a show-stopper for me. Not too long ago I bid on, and lost, a Russian silver coin, on ebay, that commemorated the first space walk, and it was gorgeous. From what little I've seen, coins that have actual meteorite pieces, like yours, are not cheap. This is an interesting collecting niche and I'm looking forward to lots more. Jack

to CCF That's the cool thing about the hobby (and about numismatics as a field of study). You go for what YOU are interested in and to heck with everybody else.

Moonrock! And I feel your pain as quite a few of the coins in my collection would be deemed "divided" but it's my hard earned $ and "I" like them. I think a collection themed around galaxy, space, astronomy and meteorites would be fun!

That is a beautiful coin!! I collect both coins and stamps. "Topical" collecting is quite common with stamp collectors, but I rarely run into a topical coin collection. Maybe you can start a trend. I think an astrophysics themed collection would be really cool!

Thanks to all for warm welcome!
I am going to start a new thread shortly, where I try to go over all of these coins containing space rocks. There are not too many, and some coins have very little information available, so this may be an interesting community effort to gather all the relevant info about these coins. I also notice that the activity appears to be picking up lately with more such coins coming to market.
Regards, MoonRock.
