True....with the auction fees and adding 35% for the US dollar, how in the world can an American auction selling Canadian coins be worthwhile to a Canadian buyer.

I like the way you guys are thinking, keeps the bidders away ;-). Personally, I look at the lot, assign a value that I will pay in CAD, convert to USD and stick to the limit. I have been able to find some really nice coins for very good prices.
The key for me is to stay disciplined, as some of the bids get a bit crazy.
For this auction, it is either live, email or telephone, to be assigned a phone, they anticipate that you would be bidding on 3-4k worth of items, not sure if that is actually win or just bidding. Put a couple bids on few coins to see how it goes, a little hesitant on submitting bids via email.

I attended the auction today and all the Large and Small cents sold for about 25%-50% of estimate including the buyers fee of 15%. There were a few coins that were outright bargains.

Sweet, maybe my bids made it through then. I was going for 2 Vicki's and a 1910. Now I wish he would have let me phone it in, could have had some nice pickups.
Did you get anything nice Everest?

purelywasted: I just purchased the 1908 ICCS 63 lustrous brown cent for my type set. The 1910 sold for $150. I have the prices realized for the Canadian material if you need any information.

Congrats Everest and thank you for the offer.
I was interested in...
#626 - 1858 N9 RP85 MS63RB #634 - 1888 MS63RD #641 - 1896 MS63RB #651 - 1906 MS64RD #655 - 1909 MS64RD #661 - 1915 MS64RD #678 - 1936 MS64RD - Pittman
How was the auction overall? Are they a fairly legitimate group? It sounds like I should have bid on some more lots.

Not bad, quite a few of these were pretty close to what I consider FMV, especially when you consider shipping. I should have bid higher on the 1896 & 1909, I guess that is the problem with submitting a bid ahead of time, oh well, plenty of fish in the sea.
Greatly appreciative for you posting the realized prices. Cheers.
