I like it! I have one of these in my collection. Just some information, in case you don't know the history: Quote: In 1935, Congress passed a bill authorizing the minting of 10,000 half dollars commemorating the sesquicentennial (150th anniversary) of the founding of the city of Hudson, NY. The obverse features a pretty standard image of Henry Hudson's sailing ship, the Half Moon, although it also includes an erroneous depiction of a crescent moon in the background (supposedly because the artist didn't know the difference between a half moon and a crescent moon). The reverse, however, features one of the strangest designs on U.S. currency (if not the strangest design). Based on the official seal of the City of Hudson used at the time, the design features Neptune riding a whale, seated backwards, with a mermaid blowing a conch shell in the background.

Real nice example of this rarity, Antares68! The U.S. Mint sure don't make commemoratives like they used to! (Nice pix too).

Great commemorative one of the top three of the type set. Do you have more commemorate coins? We would enjoy seeing them.

Thanks for the comments. I started my collection of classic US silver commemorative four years ago. For now I miss only one coin to complete type series. Half of the coins are in slabs, already classified by PCGS or NGC, while the other half is raw. If I find time, I'll try to post the pic of the other coins.
Of this, specifically, what grade would you give?

Congratulation indeed on your collecting efforts from Italy ... amazing that you have been able to nearly acquire a complete type set ... I suppose that is the power of the internet coupled with your personal dedication. Well done so far. This truly funky Chester Beach design (you can see his initials on the ship side ... to the left of the bow) is indeed one of the three toughest type coins to obtain in the 50 type coin classic silver commemorative set. I'm always skeptical whenever one of these appear ... there are plentiful counterfeits coming into the market today. With some expertise on the topic ... I judge your coin to be authentic ... but alas it would not certify as problem free at any top TPG. Please allow me to explain ... hopefully you observed the following prior to purchase ... The body of the whale that Neptune and the mermaid are riding have alas been defaced with 'graffiti' ... that is engraved letters have been applied post mint production. I am unable by your otherwise excellent photographs to see exactly what has been written ... but those are not random bag hits. I can clearly make out a letter A ... and that was not part of the Hudson design. What a shame for such a great coin. Otherwise the coin with the bag hits is MS63 or so ... and if submitted to PCGS/NGC would come back MS-Details. Not trying to steal you thread ... but here is an image of my PCGS MS66/CAC Hudson half dollar ... take a look at the area of concern I stated and compare both coins ... My opinion only of course ... and we would truly enjoy seeing photos of whatever other commemorative you have there in Italy! David

Thanks David for explanations. I checked the coin with a lens 10X. What might seem like graffiti, are, in fact, overlap random signs of contact and little hairs velvet cassette, where I keep the coin. Also because it is impossible to write with fonts so small I tried to do another photo.

Your 2nd photograph indeed does not appear to contain the 'graffiti' I was concerned about.
You have the coin in hand and have examined it closely. In that case I'm going with my original opinion of authentic MS63 or so.
