I went to this particular show looking for a 90CC GSA dollar, wasn't even considering the possibility that 79CC would even be there. I was absolutely stunned when I saw this 79CC ms63 for $7,950. They go for way more than that on ebay, auction houses, coin shows etc. I simply didn't have the money to spend on it and I'm sure I'll regret it.

The fella said he has another one just like it at his shop. He did say he also has a 90CC GSA, I'm going to call him Monday about that coin. However, seeing this coin in hand, it just had quite the chatter for a ms63 imo. Color me very confused on the grading system. It wasn't just that coin either, there were many coins that seemed to be graded oddly.

Is that a good price for that 79? Thoughts in general?

NGC I assume. With that much chatter, especially in or on the cheek area, I'd hold out for a nicer coin.
Could actually be a 62 which would lower the FMV substantially.

I wish that I would've snapped a few pics of it but I forgot my phone in the truck. It had decent fields, but the cheek chatter caught my attention and I'm a greenhorn in this ball game. I still think I should've bought it at that price.

I'm trying to collect and assemble a full set of CC GSA dollars. The three tough ones are the 79, 90 and 91. I've got the 91CC in ms62 that I've posted here. I think I'll have it regraded, it looks better than some of the ms63 gsa coins I saw yesterday.

You are correct, it was an NGC graded coin.

The price was ok. Not great. I was offered one at the same price today and passed on it. While 79-CC GSA's are expensive they are not rare, hold out for one you really like.

Question BlueVette, if there were only 4k of these coins found, how is that not considered rare? I would assume the market would gobble these up? It seems like there's a substantial market for these GSA coins?
