Since 2005 the RCM has issued either Special Edition Proof Silver Dollars with Gold Plating or Gold Plated Silver Dollars as part of the Pure Silver Proof Set. I started a side collection of these coins and also included the 2002 Gold Plated Silver Dollar for the Queen's Jubilee. Almost gave up this year, the Pure Silver Proof Set only came with a colorized version of the Flag and waited almost all year. Finally in November the Mint issued the Masters Renewed Silver Dollar with Gold Plating. Problem solved....right Now I have another problem, the new Gold Plated Silver Dollar won't fit in the case with the rest......

Very nice collection! I've enjoyed adding these to my collection as well - they are all well-executed. It is too bad that the RCM didn't continue with the selectively gold-plated SD in the annual Fine Silver Proof Set. They could have included a gold-plated SD in the proof set released in January and then featured the coloured version in the Special Editoin Proof Set that was released mid-year. In a few weeks we'll learn if they are going back to the gold-plated coins in the proof set for 2016 or going in a different direction.

A very stunning subset and where did you get the case. Are you buying the dollars individually or are you buying the sets. Well 2016 it will gold plated again. Very nicely displayed and an interesting take on silver dollars. I have to say the color one looks out of place, without any other color coins. Maybe another subset could be color silver dollars. Silver dollars seem to give many options and ways to collect.

Nice cons and set, Tender But I still would be unhappy with the original question: Do you collect ALL the Special Edition SD? Then, many missing Or you collect only the gold layered? So the Flag is not related. 2oz Voyageur is great coin, but...anyway it will not fit the slots hare, and after picturing, you probably took it away to it's wooden c ASE

@ pocket Change50....
the case is the case from the Aviation Coins that the Mint issues in the 90's. Several years ago someone from the Ottawa Area had a bunch of Aviation cases he must have gotten from the Mint. I bought 10 for $10 each. Silver Dollars with the capsule's I purchase fit perfectly.....
The original intent was a Gold Plated Silver Dollar Collection, so when the 2015 Flag Colored Silver Dollar came out I purchased one and threw it in there for now until I figured out if the Mint was going to issue a Gold Plated Silver Dollar or not.
Most of these coins I bought individually, but one or two years I bought a second set and took the Gold Plated Silver Dollar out for my subset.
Thanks for the comments.....

@ Silveroid
I collect all Silver Dollars. This was a Subset I created just for Gold Plated Silver Dollars. The Colored 2015 Flag Silver Dollar was thrown in for the picture just to show that this was the first year in many that the Proof Coin Set did not have a Gold Plated Silver Dollar.
And yes the 2oz Voyageur is back in its case in my Curio Cabinet on display....definitely one of my favorites.
This set, my 2015 Gold Plated Big Coin set and now the beginning of the MC 2oz Gold Plated Silver Dollars rank among my favorite collections along with the Aviation Coins from the 1990's.
