Hello forum, I just picked up this beauty yesterday and am having a hard time coming up with a grade for it so I thought id ask all you experts.

In the UK, they would call this Fine. If sent to an American TPG, maybe VF-30.

A common coin, but still nice for the grade. Nice even surface tone, save for some darkish flecks (caused by alloy impurities) which are typical for British silver of this era.

Also of note are the 2 reverse varieties for this type. One with a semee of hearts in the Hanoverian Shield, and one without. http://www.treasurerealm.com/coinpa..._hearts.html

The first step on the way to a complete Monarch type set in shillings from Charles 11 to Elizabeth 11.

My son has completed such a set. Only short on a Dorien & Magens Shilling, and a Northumberland Shilling.
