I think I may have found a s-vdb in my dad's penny collection. You can barely see the s or vdb unless it's magnified and in perfect lighting. I agree there appears to be something there but it's extremely hard to photograph.

Cant see pics (photo bucket is blocked at school), but I assume that if you cant see the "S" when the coin is only in G-4 then there is no "S". The coin would have to be very far gone in order for that "S" to go away.

That "S" is probably just random damage. There are only four known obverse dies for the SVDB, and none of the "S" mintmarks tilts to the left.

I will say it looks better to the human eye than through my cell camera. Are there any other tell tale signs besides the mint marks that can be used?

The "B" in "VDB"'s line through the middle is tilted.
