26.73 grams is the standerd weight. Seems a bit off of mint standards. I'm leaning towards fake.

its a 1888 S its a real coin that had env damage but someone wizzed the heck out of it and acid treated it and stripped it down I have seen these many of times it is a authentic morgan but its just worth 90% silver

Well, this conversation took a turn away from where I was expecting. I bought it with the liklehood of it being counterfeit, and wanted to examine it more closely.. If it is genuine then all the better. Looking through a loupe there are some very significant scratch marks round the stars, maybe someone was trying to dig crud out of that area. I think we can say its had a tough time, and semi key as welll?

OK, so allow me to ask the stupid question.. Being semi key, does it still have any value beyond silver? I'm OK if not because that what I paid.. but if there is still some collector value to it, that would be great to know.
