This did not match anything in Ricks latest attribution guide. It is the "Accented E" reverse, which he labeled S-12, but the obverse die is different, the date position is different and the repunched 8 does not match anything else in his guide. Here is the "Accented E" that he sold as the discovery coin. http://www.indiancent.com/index.php....VmIADhbevnkWhat do you think?

Wow, it doesn't take long for Snow's attribution guide to become outdated. Mine only goes up to S10 for 1880. That is definitely a different obverse. My eyes may be playing tricks on me but is there doubling on some of the letters in LIBERTY. Either way, it probably would be worth sending in your coin to Snow for attribution.

I know right....Unfortunately, I had my first attributed variety (1907 S-61) right after he published the last version. Maybe this will be new discovery #2. I sent Rick an email with the pictures posted today and will let you know what he says. I dont think LIBERTY is doubled....it would have been nice to have the OBV of the S-1 for the date.

Congratulations, and that was a quick turn around.
I have never submitted a coin to Snow for attribution and can't find any instructions on his website. Is there a form to fill out? When you submit a raw coin to Snow for attribution, what exactly do you get back from him.

The 1st time I sent him a coin for variety attribution, it was a new variety....1906 S-61.
When I send him coins, I'll usually send him an email first. He gets the coin, confirms the variety and sends it back. When I got the 1906 back, there was a short note and computer printout of what it would look like in the next attribution guide. It's pretty easy. If you think you have new varieties, definitely worth it to send in.

What does it cost, and I assume there is no way to tie in the paperwork with the coin, so if at a future date you want to sell the coin and prove it is the same coin as listed on the paperwork. I hope that question makes sense.

I think it's about $10 after shipping. And there is no way you can guarantee that if you sell it, people would believe it's the variety listed in what snow returns to you. Your best bet would be to use close up pictures like the ones above that show what the variety really is.
